How to Change Your Flight Without a Fee on Sun Country Airlines
As long as you make a ticket change or cancel your reservation more than 60 days in advance of travel, you will not incur a change or cancellation fee. Simply open your reservation using "My Trips" on Sun Country's website to make flight changes. A fare difference may still apply, but this is welcome news in an industry that is full of extra fees. And if the price of the new flight is lower, you'll be given an electronic travel credit to be used within one year of the original purchase.
What if I need to change my flight within 60 days of travel on Sun Country?
Of course, most disruptions to travel plans come within 2 months of departure, but Sun Country has also lowered its close-in change fees. For ticket changes made between 59-14 days prior to travel, the change fee is $50 per direction. For last-minute ticket changes, less than 14 days in advance of travel, a $100 change fee will apply.
These close-in change fees are much lower than what you'll find on the big 3 U.S. legacy carriers American, Delta, and United, which can reach $200 for domestic flights and up to $750 for international travel. And that's only for standard or Main Cabin Economy fares. Ticket changes are not allowed for Basic Economy fares on those airlines. Low-cost carriers tend to have lower change fees than the legacy airlines and Southwest still remains the only airline in the U.S. that never charges a change fee.
This is a welcome change from sun country cancellation policy compared to all of the other changes the airline has made in the past year. After adding fees for carry-on bags and removing its First Class cabin, it's nice to see that Sun Country has eliminated a fee that is one of the most annoying fees out there for travelers.
