Delta reservation system takes over for Northwest

Last week, you'll book a flight on Northwest Reservations Delta Airlines. This week, it's all Delta Air Lines, all the time.
Delta announced Monday that it had "completed the mixing of the Northwest Airlines reservation system" over the weekend, including:

• The transition of all Northwest flights into the Delta schedule,

• Migration of Northwest passenger reservations into the Delta system, and

• Delta said the last Northwest scheduled flight left l. a. for Las Vegas on Saturday night. At 3 a.m., people that visited Northwest's internet site, nwa.com, quickly found themselves on the delta.com site instead.

People who booked Northwest tickets will now find themselves on an equivalent flight, only they're now Delta Airlines Reservations flights. Passengers can use an equivalent confirmation number, Delta said.

As Delta noted, this is often one among the last steps to completely blend the Northwest into Delta. A month ago, the Federal Aviation Administration approved one operating certificate for Northwest and Delta.

Delta changed Philadelphia over on Jan. 18 to the only brand -- the last airport to form the change. Northwest's Worldpass frequent flier program has disappeared to Delta's SkyMiles. then forth.

Typically, when airlines make major changes like this, there's some technical glitch that fouls things up. we've not heard of such in Delta's case. Delta said it "has increased customer service agent staffing in airports and reservation call centers in the week to make sure a smooth experience for patrons ."
